EQAO - Pass Rate % - Average Over latest 5 Years - To Year 2009-2010

Provincial tests for Grade 3 and Grade 6, Literacy (Read & Write) and Math

Sum of scores for Levels 3 & 4 (% all students passing the test)

M1 – Method 1 = includes all eligible students (not just participating students) - This is a more demanding measure than M2 or Method 2.

EQAO Avg

Average Pass Rate % for Grades 3 and/or Grade 6 (Average of the left four columns)

EQAO Pass Rates of 70% or better are highlighted in light green

CD Howe Percentile % (2008) - Grade 3 and Grade 6

A measure of School Quality taking into account the social-demographics of the area served. A true measure

of School Performance.. Study by Dr. David Johnson, professor of Economics at Wilfred Laurier University

for the CD Howe Institute, March 2007. Elementary Schools only.

Percentiles of 20% or less are highlighted in light yellow and are a caution flag (2008 latest available data so getting old)

Percentiles of 20% or less are highlighted in red as a warning for schools that are high quality or sweet spots

How to Interpret the CD Howe Institute Percentile %

The higher the number (0-100%) the better.

90% means school's EQAO results better than 90% of all other schools with same social-demographics

10% means school's EQAO results worse than 90% of all other schools with the same social-demographics

Scores on the extremes (0-20%) and (80-100%) are good indicators of performance

Scores in the middle should be discounted – parents should look to the other measures of quality.

Total Seats # - number of total seats as of 2010 - Highlited yellow if greater than Board average of 367 seats

Low $$ - % of students from homes of below average family income - Highlited yellow if higher than board avg of 32 %
