Rouge Hill - Yard Sale for the Cure
1st Annual - May 26, 2007
Huge Success!
An estimated 45-50 homeowners representing over 10 streets in Rouge Hill took part in our 1st Annual Yard Sale for the Cure event on a bright sunny Saturday this past May 26th.
Buyers were plentiful and a portion of all proceeds (in many cases 100%) was being donated to the cause of finding a cure for breast cancer.
Many participants I spoke with appreciated the idea of adding a charity aspect to what has been an otherwise private yard sale each sping in this community.
Also, It was an opportunity to socialize with neighbours and local friends after feeling a bit isolated over the long winter months. One thing for next year for me to remember - suntan lotion works better if it is on your skin and not left in the bottle.
There were many requests from homeowners living outside Rouge Hill to participate by brining in their own tables or renting a space in a common area. They were responding to the Scarborough Mirror ad on our event. This idea will be explored for next year.
I want to thank all the Rouge Hill residents who got into the spirit of this event and I hope to see you out there next year along with a lot more who missed out this year. See you at the 2nd Annual, next May.
Good for us!
